Dear Editor - Guelph has a unique opportunity with this provincial election.

According to polls, the environment is the No. 1 issue facing us. Entirely new industries are emerging to address these concerns, and Guelph should be at the forefront of "green industry" in Canada and the world.

In particular, we have an opportunity of developing the York Lands to create a cluster that focuses on the Environment.

We have the land, the motivation on city council, and a municipality represented by a single MPP. In Green party candidate Ben Polley we have a person who understands both business and the environment (through running a successful green business). I do believe he is the candidate that can help us realize this.

Also, electing the first Green parliamentarian in North America would be like winning the marketing and public relations lottery. It could open up entirely new business opportunities here in Guelph just because we are in a riding that would be considered the greenest on the continent.

We really do have an opportunity to make history at the ballot box!

Arni Mikelsons,

Guelph
